Ian brings a wealth of industry and healthcare sector experience. His areas of expertise include leadership, organisational and senior team facilitation as well as strategic programmes. Ian is renowned for his humour and sharing his passion for learning new skills with his audiences.
Ian has spent the last 28 years as a training professional, the last focusing within the Healthcare sector. Ian’s courses are regularly appraised as being challenging, informative, insightful and a learning experience rooted in practical application.
His specialist development areas include:

- Motivation and Performance Management
- Team Leading & Team Building
- Educational and Clinical Supervision

Gerry is an independent training consultant and facilitator. Her early career was predominantly in medical research, both in the pharmaceutical sector and in teaching hospitals.
After gaining a Degree in Business Studies, Gerry directed her career interests into training and human resources. She became a qualified Myers Briggs practitioner and enjoys using this psychometric model to enhance her special interest which lies within personality dynamics and team development.
Gerry has also achieved the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development Certificate in Training and Development and is an accredited tutor for the Institute of Leadership and Management.

First Thought Training was founded in 2016 by Paula Duriez, a CIPD Associate who is passionate about personal and professional development, specifically within the healthcare sector. With over 15 years experience working within the healthcare training industry, Paula takes pride in listening to and understanding the individual needs of customers and organisations, when developing either bespoke programmes or stand alone courses.
First Thought Training has a wealth of experience working with NHS Trusts and other healthcare organisations. We offer dedicated support in the development and delivery of focused and measurable training and a diverse range of professional training courses to the health and social care sector, all of which are CPD Accredited.
We have a team of dedicated, experienced Associates who have many years training and coaching experience within the Healthcare sector as well as many other industries.
